CITY of CANFIELD

Energy Aggregation Program

City Electric Aggregation Program (Expires May 2021)

  • Residential Aggregation = 6% off the Price to Compare
  • Commercial Aggregation = 4% off the Price to Compare

The City of Canfield has teamed up with First Energy Solutions (FES) to provide the residents with an Electric Aggregation program proved by Ohio Edision. During the Opt-Out Periods, all residents are automatically placed in the program unless they specifically request to opt-out. There is no cost for enrollment. As members of the program, residents are guaranteed to save 6% off of the “Price to Compare”, commercial accounts are guaranteed to save 4% off the “Price to Compare”

The “Price to Compare” consists of by-passable generation and transmission related components, which are the charges associated with the costs for purchased power and to deliver the power through the transmission system. To estimate your savings per Kilowatt-hour, you need to get a copy of your bill and find the “Price to Compare” on your bill. Divide the “Price to Compare” by 100, then multiply by 0.06% to determine your savings per KWH. Multiply that number by your total monthly usage. The final number is what you can expect to save each month you use the same amount of electricity.

If you are not part of the program and wish to join, please contact FES at the number below. Enrollment takes approximately 30-45 days depending upon your meter read date. If you have any questions regarding this program or would like to know how it will affect your electric bill, please contact FES directly at 866-636-3749 or by visiting their website at www.firstenergycorp.com

FES Cancellation Fees

Many residents/aggregation members have asked if there is a cancellation fee for leaving the City’s electric aggregation program and electing to enter into a private contract with a supplier other than FES. The cancellation fee for leaving the program is $25. Every 3 years the program offers an opt-out period where residents may leave the program at no charge/fee. Notices will be sent to members of the program regarding the opt-out period
